Seems that Fallout 3’s latest piece of trouble-plagued downloadable content, Broken Steel, has launched broken. Least, it is on PC. Shocking, I know.
A ton of people keen enough to install the game as soon as it went live this morning have been met with the following message:
Not a cryptographic message or the cryptographic message is not formatted correctly. (Exception from HRESULT: 0×8009200D)
And then the thing won’t work. Bethesda say they’re looking into it, but, well, as someone who hasn’t been able to play Fallout 3 on PC at all (it just won’t stop freezing on the menu screen, regardless of updates), this is all getting a bit depressing.

Several online retailers are listing a DVD containing the Fallout 3 Broken Steel expansion and something called Point Look, leading to speculation that more downloadable content is on the way.
Three separate online retailers are now listing a Fallout 3 Expansion Pack – Broken Steel and Point Look product for the Xbox 360, including eStarland, MSN Shopping, and Bountii. The latter of actually lists the product as Point Lookout, which is a state park in developer Bethesda’s home state of Maryland. The listings have led to speculation that this is a new, unannounced Expansion for Fallout 3. Read more…

ccording to the latest issue of Famitsu, third-person “acrobatic” shooter WET has found a new publisher in Bethesda Softworks. Orphaned by Activision-Blizzard last Summer, the A2M-developed game has been without a publisher following Sierra’s extinction.
Retail listings for WET also back up Famitsu’s mention (by way of Siliconera) the game’s new home, with GameFly listing Bethesda as the game’s publisher. While WET’s not the typical fare for Bethesda, who are better known for work on The Elder Scrolls series and Fallout 3, we’d think it’s a good opportunity for the developer-publisher to expand its slate, while saving an interesting looking shooter at the same time. Dwell On It points out that back in February Bethesda Softworks applied for a trademark on the word Fallout for “entertainment services in the nature of an on-going television program.”
It could be a case of covering all of your bases, or maybe they really are thinking about turning the role-playing game into a tv show. We’ve contacted Bethesda for comment and will update as soon as we hear something.
